After hours and urgent medical care
If your health emergency is not life threatening, but you cannot wait for an appointment with your usual doctor or healthcare provider, go to an after hours or urgent medical centre. They can help you with things like bad cuts, sprains or breaks, minor head injuries, or if you are feeling really sick. You do not need an appointment but might have to wait.

Visiting hours
Wairarapa Hospital visiting hours are 2pm to 8pm, 7 days a week.
In most wards, the morning is reserved for treatments and doctor's rounds. Between 12pm to 2pm is quiet rest time for all patients, so visitors are not recommended.
There may be cases where you would like to visit outside of these hours. Special arrangements can be made with the Charge Nurse if you are visiting children, seriously ill or terminally ill patients.
Talk to the staff if you have questions about your visit.

By bus
Bus route 200 connects Martinborough, Featherston and Greytown to Wairarapa Hospital approximately every 45 minutes from around 8:30am to 5pm on weekdays, and every few hours on weekends.

Bus route 203 is a local Masterton service that runs 3 trips on weekdays only.
Mobility transport
Driving Miss Daisy provides mobility transport and disabled persons transport throughout Wairarapa.

Free St John Wairarapa Health Shuttle
St John run a free health shuttle runs between Masterton, Carterton, Greytown and surrounds — 8:30am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday.
St John run a free health shuttle between Martinborough, Featherston, Greytown, Carterton, and Masterton. They will also travel to Palmerston North, Lower Hutt, and Wellington.
Bookings are essential. You must bring your own car seat for a child if you need one.
The service is free, but donations are welcome.

The National Travel Assistance Scheme helps people who need to travel long distances or travel frequently for health appointments.
Parking
There is free car parking for patients and visitors available at the front of the hospital.
There is also parking on the road but be aware of parking restrictions in the area.
Facilities
Café
The hospital cafe is to the right past reception and outpatients. It is open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 3pm. It is closed on public holidays.
Wi-Fi
Patients and visitors to the hospital can log in to the 'DHB Patient Wifi' using their National Health Index (NHI) number.
Patients can ask a staff member for help accessing, and visitors please ask at reception.
Chapel
The chapel is open at all times for reflection and quiet retreat. All patients, staff and visitors are welcome to attend services in the chapel or visit at any time.
Whānau Room
Located at the centre of the hospital, the whānau room provides a calm, comfortable space for families and whānau visiting patients.

All meals are provided and patients are given a menu to select from. If you have any special requirements chat to our staff.
Televisions are provided in most ward lounges. Consider others and use your TV and radio with earphones.
Mobile phones can be used in some areas, but there may be times you will be asked to switch your phone off.
